Report: Spurs are one of three PL clubs interested in former Arsenal player

According to French journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for former Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

Guendouzi made 57 appearances for Arsenal after arriving at the club from Lorient in 2018 but he was frozen out of the first-team picture at the Emirates Stadium after reportedly falling out with Mikel Arteta (Daily Canon).

Following a successful loan spell at Marseille in 2021-22, the Frenchman made a permanent switch to the Ligue 1 giants last summer and has gone on to have an impressive campaign.

Toubache-Ter has now revealed that Guendouzi’s performances at Orange Velodrome this season have caught the attention of some Premier League clubs, including Spurs.

The journalist has stated that the Lilywhites could face competition from Newcastle United and Aston Villa for the 24-year-old and explained that Villa may have an advantage in the race, thanks to the midfielder’s relationship with Unai Emery and Boubacar Kamara.

Toubache-Ter adds that Marseille are hoping to sell the French international for a fee of around €32m (£27.8m) this summer.

There have never really been any doubts over Guendouzi’s quality.

It is his attitude that has repeatedly been questioned as he could potentially be a disruptive influence in the dressing room.

Unless Spurs are convinced that the midfielder has now matured as a person and his disciplinary issues are behind him, they should stay well clear.
