Report: Spurs are one of three PL clubs interested in Napoli star

TuttoMercatoWeb report that Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

According to recent reports, Antonio Conte wants as many as six new signings this summer, including a central defender (The Telegraph).

The Athletic reported a couple of weeks ago that a left-sided centre-back to compete with Ben Davies is Tottenham’s number one priority this summer.

If TMW’s latest update is to be believed, Koulibaly could be one of the options on Spurs’ radar ahead of the transfer window.

The 30-year-old has been a mainstay in the Napoli backline since arriving from Genk in 2014 and has made over 300 appearances for the Serie A club.

The Senegal international’s current contract at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium runs until the summer of 2023 (Transfermarkt).

TMW add that Spurs are not the only Premier League club to have expressed an interest in Koulibaly, with Everton and Aston Villa also said to have their eyes on the centre-back.

Apart from a left-sided centre-back, we also need a player for the central sweeper role as cover for Eric Dier if Joe Rodon leaves in the summer. Perhaps, Koulibaly is one of the options the club are looking at for that role, along with Stefan de Vrij.
