Report: Spurs are plotting to raid West Ham United for 24-year-old – Ledley King likes him

Football Transfers have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for West Ham United full-back Ben Johnson when the transfer window opens in the summer.

The report says that signing quality backups for Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie is one of Ange Postecoglou’s priorities in the summer and Johnson is one of the players that the North London club have their eye on.

The Hammers star’s ability to operate in both full-back areas is said to appeal to the Lilywhites while the player has also allegedly been highly recommended by club legend Ledley King.

Tottenham are looking at Ben Johnson

Johnson’s current contract at the London Stadium runs out in June and it is suggested that there is a very real possibility that he could walk away on a free transfer.

This is because the full-back has already rejected two contract offers by West Ham, including the latest offer of a four-year deal.

The publication adds that contract negotiations between the two parties have hit an impasse, thus opening the door for Spurs.

While Johnson might not be a name that excites Spurs fans, he could prove a solid squad player for us and the fact that he is homegrown would make him a particularly appealing option to the club’s hierarchy, given their shortage of homegrown talent at the moment.
