Report: Spurs are ready to battle Juventus to sign Manchester United outcast

According to the print edition of Tuttosport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur could compete with Juventus for Manchester United star Anthony Martial, who is backed to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer.

The report points out that Martial’s current contract runs out in June and it is explained that although Man Utd have the option to extend it by another year, they are not expected to take that up.

It is alleged that the Frenchman will be allowed to leave on a free transfer and that his entourage are now searching for a new club.

Juventus and Tottenham express interest in Martial

TuttoSport primarily discusses Juve’s interest in Martial, explaining that the Old Lady have identified the 28-year-old as a potential option to bolster their forward line.

It is alleged that the Bianconeri have already reached out to the forward’s representatives but the player’s €6m (£5.1m) per year salary request is thought to be an issue for the Serie A side.

In addition, the publication adds that Massimiliano Allegri’s men are not expected to have a free run at Martial, with Spurs also circling over the Red Devils star.

Spurs Web Opinion

This transfer would not make much sense for Spurs as not only is Martial not a good fit for the age profile the Lilywhites would be after but his attitude problems will also likely put off Postecoglou.

The Spurs boss will be cautious to bring the right sort of personalities through the door to preserve the family feel that currently exists in the changing room.
