Journalist Dean Jones has written in his column on Sports Lens that Tottenham Hotspur have now joined the whole host of Premier League clubs circling over Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.
Williams has been earmarked as a promising talent for several years and the wide-man is starting to show signs that he is on the cusp of becoming a breakout star.
The pacy winger has already registered 15 goal contributions (five goals and 10 assists) across all competitions and is now allegedly starting to attract envious glances from clubs around Europe.

Tottenham now keen on Nico Williams
According to Jones, Spurs have become the latest side to join the likes of Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool in the race for Williams’ signature.
The journalist says that among these clubs, Villa have made the most headway in their pursuit of the 21-year-old, who is also said to be on the radars of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
The Spain international is reported to have a release clause of £43m in his contract, which now looks increasingly likely to be activated next summer, given the maturity he is now showing.
Jones adds that Tottenham believe that they would be quite an enticing destination for Williams as they provide a stable environment for young talents to fulfil their potential.

Given that the Lilywhites made a serious effort to sign Antonio Nusa last month, we know that they are in the market for a young, pacy winger, with Williams very much fitting the bill. The release clause should make any transfer agreement with Bilbao straightforward, with the decision likely to come down to the Spaniard himself.
