According to Il Messaggero (as relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb), Tottenham Hotspur are now readying an offer for AS Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante.

Cristante has been an indispensable part of the Giallorossi midfield for many years and the versatile 28-year-old has featured in a number of roles for Jose Mourinho, including as a number six, a centre-back and as a box-to-box midfielder.

Tottenham’s interest in the Italian came to light last week when Il Romanista reported that Ange Postecoglou’s men had their eye on the player, who is seen as a ‘perfect fit’ for the Australian’s 4-2-3-1 system.

However, the outlet revealed that the experienced midfielder is seen as ‘irreplaceable’ by the Serie A side, with Jose Mourinho said to be ‘desperate’ to keep hold of the player.

Tottenham readying offer for Bryan Cristante

Il Messaggero have now also said that Cristante’s performances this season have caught the attention of Spurs, who are looking to bolster their midfield.

The publication adds that the Lilywhites are now willing to put an offer of €30m (£26.2) on the table for the Italy international.

It is asserted that such an offer from the Premier League side ‘would be difficult’ for the Stadio Olimpico hierarchy to turn down.

Spurs Web Opinion

The profile of midfielders we are being linked with (Andre Trindade, Kalvin Phillips, Bryan Cristante etc) is a clear indication as to what Tottenham are looking for.

It is clear that Postecoglou is not looking to sign a guaranteed starter and would rather bring in a versatile squad option to potentially replace Hojbjerg.
