Report: Spurs are ‘really keen’ on £47m star who left PL club in the summer

TEAMtalk claim that Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs interested in offering Ruben Neves a route back to the Premier League.

The report states that Neves is ‘hopeful’ of returning to England on loan just six months on from making a £47m switch from Wolves to Al-Hilal.

Even though the Portuguese international would miss out on some lucrative bonuses if he does so, the player is said to be favouring a return.

It is explained that Newcastle are ‘extremely keen’ on signing the midfielder but they are awaiting the outcome of a vote by Premier League clubs to block affiliate organisations conducting business with one another.

Should Tottenham move for Ruben Neves?

If such a rule is approved, Newcastle would not be able to sign players from PIF-owned Al-Hilal. TEAMtalk say that it would open the door for Tottenham, Arsenal and AC Milan to pounce on Neves, with all three clubs watching the situation closely.

The publication explains that the Spurs are keen to bolster their midfield since they will be without Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma during AFCON while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is keen to leave.

It is alleged that the Portugal international ‘ticks plenty of boxes’ for the Tottenham hierarchy.

Given that both Bissouma and Sarr would only be missing for a few weeks, a loan signing might make sense for Tottenham in January. It is not often that a player of Neves’ quality is available on loan.
