Estadio Deportivo have now suggested that Tottenham are not expected to be successful in their pursuit of Nico Williams as the winger has decided to remain at Athletic Club Bilbao for one more season.
The report says that even though the interest in Williams is continuing to grow ahead of the summer, Athletic Club are calm about the situation since the youngster is contracted to the club until 2027.
The winger’s entourage are now said to be working out a plan for his future and it allegedly does not involve departing Sam Mames this summer.

Nico Willaims will not be sold this summer
Estadio Deportivo claims that Willaims want to remain at his boyhood club for one more season as he wants the opportunity to represent them in Europe.
That is the desire of the player, his entourage and his family, which is why the attacker is ‘practically assured’ to stay at the club beyond the summer.
It is thus suggested that the efforts of Tottenham and others to poach him from the Basque side this summer might prove futile.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite interesting that this report comes days after it emerged that Barca are trying to hammer out a deal for Willaims to arrive at Camp Nou in 2025. I do wonder if Tottenham will also consider a similar deal whereby they sign the youngster and loan him back to Athletic Club for next season.
