Report: Spurs are set to ‘overtake’ two transfer rivals in £34.3m race for attacker

TuttoJuve have now reported that Genoa’s asking price for Albert Gudmundsson has now gone up and this could play into Tottenham’s hands.

Gudmundsson has been one of the standout attackers in Serie A this season and the versatile forward is expected to be the subject of a transfer battle this summer.

A number of Italian outlets have reported over the last few weeks that Tottenham are set to fight it out with Inter Milan and Juventus for the Iceland international’s signature (Tuttosport via Sport Witness).

Genao’s asking price has gone up

TuttoJuve have now said that while Alberto Gilardino’s men were initially demanding €35m (£30m) for Gudmundsson, they are now asking for €40m (£34.3m) to part ways with the player.

The report explains that Juve and Inter were even hesitant to pay £30m for the 26-year-old, with the price increase potentially scuppering their hopes of landing the forward.

The publication add that Tottenham can ‘take advantage’ of the ‘reluctance’ of the two Serie A sides and could ‘overtake’ them in the race for Gudmundsson’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

Not only do Spurs have a financial advantage over both Inter and Juve in the race for Gudmundsson but they also have an ace up their sleeve in the form of Djed Spence, who is on loan at Genoa. The Lilywhites could potentially drop the right-back’s price as a sweetener to aid their purusit of the 26-year-old.
