Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, despite already adding Radu Dragusin to their squad this month.
Heading into the January transfer window, Tottenham absolutely had to bring in a new centre-half as a top priority, with injuries to their first-choice pairing, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero causing all kinds of issues for the squad.
The Lilywhites got their man, and fairly quickly, too, with the signing of Radu Dragusin earlier this month. The 21-year-old arrived from Genoa for a fee believed to be in the region of £26.7m (Sky Sports).
With the Romanian now part of Ange Postecoglou‘s squad, Romero and van de Ven back from injury, and cover in the form of Ben Davies, Emerson Royal, and youngster Alfie Dorrington, you’d be forgiven for thinking Spurs have got their central defensive area sorted now.

Spurs still chasing Jarrad Branthwaite
However, rumours linking Jarrad Branthwaite with a move away from Everton continue to persist, even though the Toffees have reportedly attached a £100m price tag on the young defender’s head (INews).
In light of Everton’s recent breach of Financial Fair Play rules—their second reprimand of the season—there is a chance the Merseyside club could be forced to sell their assets talkSPORT (16/1/24, 12:36 pm).
According to the latest from the Daily Mail, Spurs would be keen to make Branthwaite a Lilywhite player, regardless of the fact they have just signed Dragusin. It is thought the North London side have been “maintaining a watching brief” on the 21-year-old.
Many suspected Spurs had “dropped interest” in Branthwaite, but it seems Postecoglou is keen to “build” his squad “further in the summer.” Branthwaite’s homegrown status is also believed to be a massive draw for many top clubs.
Spurs Web Opinion
I would love to see us swoop for Branthwaite and take advantage of Everton’s financial situation, as cruel as that sounds. He’s a classy young defender, but he will be wanted en masse in the summer, and we will have to fight to secure his signature.
