Report: Spurs are ‘the most interested club’ in star who took World Cup by storm

According to La Repubblica (15/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham are at the front of the queue for the signature of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

On the back of Amrabat’s performances at the World Cup, reports have indicated that the midfielder is on the radars of several clubs including Spurs.

Foot Mercato reported earlier this month that Spurs were battling Liverpool for the 26-year-old’s signature and added that the Reds had already held talks with the player regarding a January switch to Anfield.

Gianluca Di Marzio also confirmed the interest of the two aforementioned clubs in Amarabat this week, with the journalist telling SoccerNews on Thursday that the player’s representatives will likely push for him to join Jurgen Klopp’s side over the Lilywhites.

However, La Repubblica have now claimed that Antonio Conte’s men are currently ‘the most interested club’ in the Moroccan ahead of Liverpool.

The report adds that Spurs are ‘ready to talk’ to Fiorentina to ‘understand the margins of negotiations’ for the midfielder.

However, it is explained that the Viola do not intend to sell Amrabat in January and that it would take a ‘sensational offer’ of around €50m-€55m (£43.7m-£48.1m) to get the Serie A side to the negotiating table.

La Repubblica also assert that the midfielder’s preference is to move to La Liga, with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona both alleged to be interested.

Spurs Web Opinion

I just cannot see Spurs splashing out £40m-plus for a number six in January when reinforcements are needed much more urgently in other areas of the pitch.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are desperate for another central midfielder, which is why I would not be surprised if the Reds make a sizeable offer for the Moroccan.
