Report: Spurs are ‘waiting’ despite being ‘keenly interested’ in 28-year-old

According to Het Laatste Nieuws (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are ‘keenly interested’ in Leandro Trossard but have not yet pushed ahead with a concrete move for the player.

Trossard and Roberto de Zerbi have not seen eye to eye recently, with the Brighton boss revealing last week that the Belgian had shown disrespect by walking out of a training session without telling him anything (BeanymanSports2).

The attacker’s entourage have hit back at De Zerbi’s claims and called on the Seagulls to allow him to leave the club during the current transfer window (The Telegraph).

Trossard has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over the last week and a half, with Football Insider even claiming on Saturday that the north London club are ready to launch an offer for the player.

However, this has now been contradicted by Belgian ourtlet Het Laatste Nieuws, who state that despite being keen on signing the 28-year-old, Antonio Conte’s men are ‘waiting’ before making any moves.

The publication adds that Brighton have offered Trossard ‘all over England’ and that the ‘final decision’ on the former Genk player’s future will be made by the club’s owner Tony Bloom.

Spurs Web Opinion

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Spurs view Trossard as a potential fallback option if a move for their top attacking target does not materialise. It is anybody’s guess who the club’s top target is at the moment. I have a sneaky suspicion that we will push ahead with a move for Nicolo Zaniolo over the coming days and weeks.
