Report: Spurs are ‘well placed’ to move for centre-back who is ‘keeping an open mind’

The Daily Mail have claimed that Harry Maguire is keeping an open mind about his future ahead of the summer transfer window as Tottenham circle the Manchester United man.

We covered a report from The Times on Tuesday, which claimed that Ange Postecoglou is expected to start work immediately on reshaping the squad ahead of next season, with Harry Maguire being one of the names on the North London club’s radar.

Tottenham‘s interest in the Man United star has now been backed up by The Mail, who say that the Lilywhites can now ‘press ahead’ with their summer plans, with a new head coach in place.

The report adds that Maguire’s future at Old Trafford is ‘uncertain’, with the Red Devils said to be open to selling the centre-back.

The England international is alleged to be ‘keeping an open mind’ regarding his future as the summer window approaches.

It is asserted that Spurs have already ‘made checks’ on Maguire’s situation and are ‘well placed’ to move for the 30-year-old if they make a collective decision to do so.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe that Maguire has been unfairly scapegoated by a section of Man Utd supporters and that he is nowhere near as bad as some fans seem to think.

In fact, I believe that he can be an excellent centre-back in the right system when his confidence is up.

While his ability on the ball and in winning duals is something that might appeal to Postecoglou and Spurs, I do have concerns over whether he has the recovery pace to play in a high line, which the Australian employs.
