Report: Spurs are willing to extend Bryan Gil’s loan spell under one condition

Estadio Deportivo have claimed Tottenham Hotspur would be willing to extend Bryan Gil’s loan spell at Valencia if Antonio Conte remains in charge next season.

Gil has hardly put a foot wrong since joining Valencia in January and has not taken long to win the Los Che faithful over.

Deporte Valenciano reported last month that while Valencia would like to keep Gil at the club beyond the summer, the club cannot afford to sign the winger permanently.

Super Deporte subsequently suggested Gil ‘would welcome’ the prospect of remaining at the Mestalla next season but the decision on extending his loan spell would depend on Tottenham’s plans.

If Estadio Deportivo‘s latest update is to be believed, Spurs would be happy for Gil to continue at Valencia if Conte is in charge, as the winger is not in the Italian’s immediate plans.

However, the report adds that the 21-year-old might not be in favour of extending his stay with Jose Bordalas’ side.

It is explained that Gil’s agent wants him to play for a team that are involved in Europe next season. So, they are allegedly prepared to wait until the end of the campaign to see what opportunities open up.

I have no doubt that Gil would want to leave on loan in order to give himself the best chance of making it into Spain’s squad for the World Cup in November.

The only question is which club he will join. I imagine there will be no shortage of suitors from La Liga for the 21-year-old, given how well he has done at Valencia.
