Report: Spurs are willing to offer player swap option in bid to sign Brazilian

Sport have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are willing to include some of their players in a deal to sign Raphinha in January.

Raphinha has failed to live up to expectations since his switch to Camp Nou 18 months ago and it has been suggested over recent days that the winger could be set for a return to the Premier League soon.

This includes an update by Football Transfers on 17 November, which claimed that Tottenham hold a ‘concrete interest’ in the Brazilian.

The outlet explained that Barca valued the attacker at €70m (£61.3m), with the figure alleged to have caught Spurs’ attention.

Curiously, the report suggested that Barca could also propose a swap deal between Raphinha and Cristian Romero, with the Catalan club being admirers of the Argentine centre-back.

Spurs open to part-exchange deal for Raphinha

Sport have now also backed up Tottenham’s interest in Raphinha and they say that the Lilywhites would be willing to include some of their players to sweeten the operation.

It is explained that Spurs have had their eye on the 26-year-old for a long time but as things stand, they are ‘not willing’ to pay the £61m that Barca are demanding.

The publication adds that while the North London club’s plan is to ‘offer a significant amount of money’ for Raphina, they are ready to explore a part-exchange deal.

Sport state that Romero’s name ‘stands out above the rest’ since the centre-back has been on Barca’s wishlist since his Atalanta days.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will not enter any offers for Romero, given how central he is to Postecoglou’s plans. Spurs would feel that Barca might find it difficult to turn down any offer in the £45m-£50m range for Raphinha, given the Catalan club’s current financial predicament.
