Report: Spurs are willing to sacrifice 26-year-old to sign defender in January

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offload Richarlison in January and use the funds from the striker’s sale to sign a centre-back.

Richarlison made his first start for the Lilywhites on Sunday since his pelvic surgery last month, with the Brazilian delivering his best performance of the season so far.

He was moved back to the centre-forward role and led the line impressively, netting twice as Spurs emerged 4-1 winners.

Ange Postecoglou praised the 26-year-old’s all-round performance and revealed that the striker is now feeling a lot better both physically and mentally after undergoing surgery to fix his pelvic issue, which had been plaguing him since the start of the season (Football.London).

Tottenham’s surprise plan for Richarlison sale

However, if Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs are now prepared to offload Richarlison next month, with the striker said to be attracting interest from Saudi Pro League sides.

It is alleged that senior figures at the North London club are now ‘increasingly likely’ to accept any big money offers for the former Everton man and use the funds to sign a new central defender.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even before Richarlison’s impressive showing against Newcastle, I did not think there was any chance that Spurs would let the forward leave in January. Postecoglou will likely give the Brazilian an opportunity to come good over the coming months and will take a call on his future next summer.
