Report: Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all interested in the same centre-back

90 min have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Zenit St Petersburg centre-back Robert Renan.

Spurs are undoubtedly in need of reinforcements in central defence this summer, with the left-sided centre-back role seemingly being a priority to address.

The Athletic reported a couple of days ago that even if Tottenham sign Clement Lenglet permanently this summer, the club are also expected to push ahead with a move for another left centre-back.

If 90 min’s latest update is to be believed, Renan is one of the players that the North London club have their eye on ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to life in the Russian top flight since his switch to Zenit a few months ago and he was even called up to the senior Selecao squad back in March.

However, it is explained that Tottenham are far from the only club interested in the youngster, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle named as ‘admirers’ of the centre-back.

If Tottenham do sign Lenglet permanently, it might make sense to bring in a young, up-and-coming player like Renan, who can grow into a regular first-team role over the next 12 months.

I am surprised that Spurs are seemingly not pursuing Evan Ndicka, given that he is available on a free transfer.
