Report: Spurs battle Arsenal for £9m-rated centre-back

Tottenham Hotspur may soon have to think about replacing their iconic defensive duo, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, with both having just a year left on their contracts.

The Belgian pair are also now both over 30-years-old, so Mauricio Pochettino may want to switch his focus to some young alternatives.

The Sun have now reported that Arsenal, Spurs, and Burnley, are all fighting it out to sign a 17-year-old central defender, despite the fact he has yet to play a single game in the Championship.

Middlesborough defender, Nathan Wood, is said to be fetching a rather steep £9m price for a teenager with little experience.

While Burnley are apparently leading the race to secure the signature of Wood, Spurs and Arsenal are lingering and monitoring him.

If signed, he would join the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Japhet Tanganga as youthful centre-backs at the club.

Would he represent a good investment?
