Report: Spurs battle it out with Crystal Palace for French League right-back star

Tottenham Hotspur could be on the lookout for a new right-back star this summer after disappointing seasons from both Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier.

Trippier has recently been linked with a £25m move to either Juventus or Napoli and, if sold, Pochettino would surely need to replace the England international (Mirror).

While Spurs have been linked with English youngsters Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace (Sun) and Max Aarons from Norwich (Football London), they may fall out of the club’s price range.

One of the latest rumours is that Tottenham are eyeing up a move for Marseille right-back Hiroki Sakai after he was voted fans player of the season last year (Sky Sports).

Sakai would certainly bring experience, with the 29-year-old racking up 122 games for Marseille over the past three seasons, as well as 56 caps for his country, appearing at two World Cups.

Marseille have reportedly already identified Kevin Malcuit from Napoli as a replacement for Sakai, so the Japanese international could well be available this summer (But Football Club).

Crystal Palace are also said to be interested in signing the right-back in the coming weeks (Sun).
