Report: Spurs battling Arsenal and West Ham for £13m-rated right-back

Turkish publication Star have revealed that Tottenham are in a three-way battle with Arsenal and West Ham for Sassuolo right-back Mert Muldur.

Muldur’s reputation has blossomed since he arrived in Serie A back in 2019, with the versatile Turk impressing both at right-back and centre-back for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Tottenham were first linked with a move for the 22-year-old back in April, with the defender’s agent also confirming interest in his client from both English and Italian clubs (Spox).

The Daily Mail revealed earlier this week that Fabio Paratici could make the Sassuolo star Spurs’ first summer signing.

Star have now claimed that Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit of Muldur, with their London rivals Arsenal and West Ham also set to challenge the Lilywhites for the defender.

It is asserted that the former Rapid Wien star, who is valued at around €10m-€15m (£8.5m-£12.8m) by Sassuolo, is close to leaving Italy.

Perhaps Paratici views Muldur as an alternative to Takehiro Tomiyasu, who Spurs have been linked with heavily over recent days.

The Sassuolo man, just like the Japanese international, is comfortable at right-back as well as centre-back, and is capable of playing as a right-centre-back in a back three.
