Report: Spurs changed their mind on midfield target after Postecoglou joined

Tottenham Hotspur have seemingly pulled out of the race to sign Daichi Kamada on a free transfer this summer.

Daichi Kamada has caught the eye during his time with Eintracht Frankfurt. The playmaker registered 16 goals and seven assists in all competitions for the German outfit last season (Transfermarkt).

The Japanese international left Frankfurt this summer after his contract expired. Despite interest from several clubs, it appeared Kamada had made up his mind and had reached an agreement to join AC Milan.

However, that move fell through after personnel at the Italian club changed and ‘different ideas’ were brought in, meaning the Serie A giants pulled out of the deal.

This drastic u-turn left many clubs on alert as Kamada suddenly became available again, with Newcastle United and Tottenham believed to be circling once more (90 Min).

Tottenham Hotspur set to pass on Kamada

Tottenham may have been linked with Kamada for some time now, but it seems the North London changed their mind on the midfielder.

That’s according to the latest from the Express, who claim “a change of face” in the Spurs dugout has seen the club cool their interest in Kamada. It is believed Ange Postecoglou has “reshaped” the club’s priorities in the transfer market and wants to sign a new defender first and foremost.

Kamada has since gone on to sign for Lazio this week on a free transfer (Fabrizio Romano).

Spurs Web Opinion

We definitely need to sign a defender or two as a priority, but surely we should have looked at a player like Kamada and at least trying to acquire him. He would have been an exciting addition to an already impressive attacking roster.
