Report: Spurs, Chelsea and Newcastle are all looking at RB Leipzig star

HITC have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in Benjamin Sesko but Newcastle United could now push ahead with a move for the RB Leipzig star.

Sesko made his name at Red Bull Salzburg over the last few years before making the switch to sister club Leipzig last summer and the centre-forward has had a decent first season in the Bundesliga, with 11 goals to his name so far (Transfermarkt).

HITC have now said that a number of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are following the 20-year-old progress and have expressed an interest in him.

Newcastle now leading the race for Benjamin Sesko

However, the report suggests that Newcastle are showing the most concrete interest in Sesko, with the club said to be keen on signing a number nine to replace Callum Wilson this summer.

The report says that the Slovenia international has been on the Magpies’ radar for a few years and their recruitment team are now running the rule over the youngster ahead of the summer.

The publication adds that Sesko has a release class of £45m in his contract and would be open to leaving the Red Bull Arena, with the player alleged to be aware of interest from the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham are likely to be in the market for a centre-forward in the summer and Sesko would certainly fit the bill, given his age and his tactical profile.

However, following his struggles for starts at Leipzig this season, perhaps the 20-year-old would be hesitant to move to a club like Spurs, where he would only be a squad player, at least initially.
