Report: Spurs close to agreeing their first deal of the summer

Tottenham Hotspur have now almost gone a year and a half without signing a single new player, but could the wait finally be over?

Spurs fans have had plenty of time to dine out on the successful signing of Lucas Moura back in January 2018, as he is still the newest face at Hotspur Way.

While Spurs are linked to some big names already this summer, with Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele (Sky Sports) and Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso (BBC) a prominent duo, it could be a young Englishman that ends the drought.

Spurs have been linked with Leeds United winger, Jack Clarke, for some time now (talkSPORT), with the Championship club said to be holding out for £20m for the player (Mirror).

The 18-year-old made his first Leeds start in January this year, but racked up 24 appearances throughout the season, including two goals and two assists.

The Express have now reported that Jack Clarke is close to a £15m move to Tottenham, but could be loaned straight back, just as Spurs did with Dele Alli and MK Dons.

Spurs Web Opinion:

While it isn’t the signing that any Spurs fan has been dreaming of, it is always good to invest in young English talent, and this transfer could get the ball moving for the summer. From what I have heard and seen, Jack Clarke could be a huge star in the future. Fingers crossed he has a big impact at Tottenham.
