Report: Spurs closely following 21-year-old winger ahead of summer window

According to a report in Voetbal Primeur, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close eye on Anderlecht winger Paul Mukairu ahead of the summer transfer window.

Mukairu is on a season-long loan at Anderlecht from Turkish side Antalyaspor, with the Belgian club having the option to make the deal permanent in the summer for around €2.5m (£2.1m).

The Nigerian has impressed in the Jupiler League this season, netting twice and registering four assists.

The Sunday Mirror (21/2, page 67) reported last month that Spurs were in pole position to land the 21-year-old at the end of the season, with the wide man expecting to cost around £4m.

Soccer Nigeria claimed last week that the race for the winger’s signature was heating up, with Spurs facing competition from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and AS Roma.

Voetbal Primeur claim that Tottenham are one of the sides who are ‘closely following’ Mukairu along with Roma and Ajax.

The report suffers that the youngster is happy at Anderlecht and is not looking force through a move away from the club but that could change if the aforementioned clubs come calling for him.

Spurs Web Opinion

If we are to bolster our wide options in the summer, that would likely mean shifting some players out. Most Spurs fans would have probably admitted a month ago that Bale, Moura and Lamela might not be at the club next season.

However, with all three players coming into very good form over the past few weeks, it seems like Bergwijn might potentially be the first one out of the door in the summer if Jose wants to bring in another wide player.
