Report: Spurs closing in on third signing of the summer; club keen to reach deal

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be in talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers over a deal for Matt Doherty.

Miguel Delaney, chief football writer at the Independent believes that the transfer fee will be £12million which will rise to £16million.

The Athletic claimed earlier that Wolves valued the right-back initially at £20million with Tottenham making an opening offer of around £12million before add-ons.

It has been reported that both sides are keen to reach an agreement for the Republic of Ireland international who has been at Molineux for the past ten years with a deal likely to be reached for a fee in the region of £15million.

Jose Mourinho is said to want to bring in an upgrade for Serge Aurier, who was the club’s first choice for the vast majority of the campaign following the decision to sell Kieran Trippier last summer and Kyle Walker-Peters’ loan switch to Southampton in January.

Tottenham have already added to their squad this summer following the arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton and Joe Hart joining on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Burnley.
