The report from Sky carried the headline ‘Tottenham close to signing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon‘ which will certainly fill Spurs fans with hope that they could be on the verge of a major transfer coup.

The 22-year-old has experienced a spectacular rise to the top having moved to Lyon from Amiens in August 2017 on an initial loan deal and has since gone on to earn six caps for France.

Tottenham’s current record transfer fee was in the region of £42m which they paid Ajax for Davinson Sanchez in 2017 (Guardian) while Ndombele is expected to cost north of £60million (The Sun).
