Report: Spurs’ club-record bid for French star rejected

If reports in the press are to be believed, Daniel Levy is set to back Mauricio Pochettino considerably this summer in a bid to get the Argentine to commit to the club (The Sun).

Tottenham have not added a single player to their squad in the last two transfer windows but that is likely to change in the coming weeks.

Midfield is one area where Spurs are short of numbers after failing to replace Mousa Dembele who departed to Guangzhou R&F in January.

It looks as if Mauricio Pochettino has identified Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele as the man to replace the Belgian.

Sky Sport Italia report that Tottenham made a bid of €45m plus bonuses, with the fee potentially rising to £60million according to the Sun.

However, it is claimed that the bid has been rejected by the French club who want £65million for the player who they secured for just £7million last summer, after an initial loan spell (Bleacher Report).

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on reports, it doesn’t look like Tottenham and Lyon are too far apart in their valuation of Ndombele. The Frenchman will be a fantastic addition to the Spurs squad and will be the perfect man to replace Mousa Dembele.

It will be a real statement of intent if Tottenham manage to nab Ndombele ahead of the whole host of European giants that are supposedly monitoring him.
