Report: Spurs confident of landing Premier League midfielder this summer

Tottenham are confident of signing Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer, according to a report by The Telegraph.

However, in order to get the deal over the line, Spurs must first raise the transfer fee through selling current players.

It is believed that Hojbjerg is at the top of Jose Mourinho’s transfer shortlist ahead of the new campaign with the manager looking to strengthen the protection in front of his defence.

The 24-year-old only has one year left on his current contract at Southampton and has made it public knowledge that he has been flattered to have been linked with Spurs (BT).

Hojbjerg has recently been stripped of the armband at the Saints following his comments and lack of commitment to Southampton’s future (talkSPORT).

Tottenham right-back, Kyle Walker-Peters is currently out on loan at Southampton and it is a possibility that he could be used as leverage in a potential deal for the Danish midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am sure there are many Spurs fans who are delighted at this news, we have been needing a solid form of protection in front of the defence for a while now. However, it is worrying that we do not even have the funds to pay for a £20m estimated midfielder.
