Report: Spurs consider plugging the gap left by Sissoko

The January transfer window has come at a crucial time for Tottenham with the early momentum that Jose Mourinho bought to the club completely waning off over recent weeks.

Poor results have seen the players come under a fair bit of criticism recently and the January transfer window could represent a good opportunity for Mourinho to help fix some of the team’s issues.

However, if a report by Sky Sports is to be believed that it appears that the Lillywhites might be taking a minimalist approach to this transfer window.

The report claims that Tottenham will mostly be looking at loan deals to plug the gaps in the squad.

It is alleged that the club is intent on signing a central midfielder on loan after the recent injury blow to Moussa Sissoko.

The Frenchman has been heavily involved under Mourinho just as he was under his predecessor and it is suggested that the 56-year-old wants a short term replacement for Sissoko until the end of the campaign.

If it is true that the club are looking at loan signings this month, then perhaps the rationale behind it would be to go big in the summer instead. Although the squad looks in need of considerable investment, there are usually not too many deals of good value to be done in January.
