The Times have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now seriously considering terminating Hugo Lloris’ contract.
Reports over the last week have indicated that Lloris could be one of as many as eight first-team stars to leave Tottenham before the transfer window closes as the North London club look to open up spaces for new signings (Sky Sports’ Football Daily).
RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins revealed a few days ago that the former Spurs captain had turned down the chance to join Lazio as he did not want to serve as the understudy at the Serie A club.
The journalist added that the 36-year-old could now decide to remain with the Lilywhites and see out the final year of his contract.
However, Ange Postecoglou ruled out that possibility in his press conference on Friday, stating that Spurs will not go into the season with three senior goalkeepers (Football.London).
Hugo Lloris could soon be a free agent
If The Times’ latest update is to be believed, Spurs are now considering terminating the final 12 months remaining in Lloris’ contract after he turned down the switch to the Italian capital.
The report claims that the Lilywhites might allow the goalkeeper to search for a new club as a free agent.

This always looked like the most likely outcome right from the start of the summer. Spurs were not going to get much of a fee for the 36-year-old anyway, given his decline over the last year and the fact that he perhaps has only a couple of years of football left him.
