Report: Spurs considering signing winger on loan

Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a loan offer for Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar, according to The Independent.

The report claims that Atleti have offered the French international on loan for the remainder of the season for a loan fee of €6m with the option to make the deal permanent for €60 million in the summer.

The winger rose to prominence at Monaco and made a big-money move to the Spanish giants in the summer of 2018. However, he has failed to replicate the same form in La Liga and has reportedly become surplus to requirements at the club.

Several other clubs are also reported to be interested in signing Lemar with Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal also said to be keen on the 24-year-old.

The report also suggests that the French international is eager to seek a new challenge after a disappointing year and a half in Spain.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I desperately wanted us to sign Lemar when he was still at Monaco, his time at Atletico has certainly cast some doubts on his ability. While €60 million is too steep a fee to pay for Lemar, there is no doubt that he would be an extremely valuable addition to the squad.
