The Times have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for a centre-back before the transfer window slams shut this evening.
Multiple sources have revealed over the last couple of days that Pedro Porro and Arnaut Danjuma are likely to be Tottenham’s only two signings this window.
Dan Kilpatrick revealed on Yahoo Sports on Sunday that while Antonio Conte wants to strengthen at centre-back, in midfield and in goal, those signings are likely to be put off until the summer, with the journalist naming Alessandro Bastoni as one of the players wanted by the Italian.
Alasdair Gold also revealed in his latest Q&A on Football.London on Monday that Spurs are expected to sign two centre-backs in the summer, with the journalist naming Bastoni, Josko Gvardiol, Marc Guehi and Piero Hincapie as options on the North London club’s radar.
However, if The Telegraph are to be believed, Tottenham might not wait until the summer to strengthen their backline. The report states that now the Lilywhites have wrapped up the Porro deal, they are ‘considering’ making a move for a centre-back before the deadline.

The issue is that Tottenham would have to sign a homegrown player unless they are planning to leave out one of the senior players from the Champions League squad. I do not think any homegrown centre-back option is likely to be available before this evening’s transfer deadline.
