Report: Spurs considering the sale of Argentina international in January

Erik Lamela is being linked with a potential move away from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Athletic report that the midfielder could potentially depart the club in January with a decision to be made on whether his injury record is becoming a hindrance.

Lamela joined Spurs in August 2013 from Roma in a deal worth £25.7m (BBC) in what was an active transfer window for the North London club having previously recruited Christian Eriksen, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli and Vlad Chiriches.

The Argentine has been plagued with injury issues since making the move to England which has seen him miss a staggering 99 matches in all competitions following his switch to Spurs (transfermarkt).

Most recently he has been sidelined with a hamstring problem but returned as a late replacement in the 2-2 draw at Norwich City, which was his first appearance since Jose Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino.

Lamela signed a new four-year deal in North London in 2018 which keep him contracted until the summer of 2022 (Sky Sports).
