Report: Spurs continue to eye 20-year-old defender with ‘some interest’

Calciomercato.it have revealed that Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Piero Hincapie continues to be of interest to Tottenham Hotspur.

Hincapie has won many admirers with his impressive displays since moving to Germany in the summer of 2021.

The centre-back was linked with a move to Tottenham this summer, with Revolo journalist Marcos Duran stating back in June that both Spurs and AC Milan had spoken to the 20-year-old’s representatives regarding a summer transfer.

Hincapie ended up staying in Leverkusen this summer but if Calciomercato.it’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs’ interest in the player has not dissipated.

The report states that along with the Lilywhites, Milan, Napoli and AS Roma have also watched the centre-back on a few occasions this season.

Antonio Conte is alleged to be looking at the Ecuador international with ‘some interest’ ahead of the January transfer window.

It is explained that Leverkusen are in talks with Hincapie to renew his contract, even though his current deal runs until 2026.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect Spurs to be on the lookout for a centre-back in January as Japhet Tanganga could well depart the club. However, I do not think the club will go after a left-sided centre-back until next summer, given that Conte has both Lenglet and Davies at his disposal.
