Report: Spurs could battle Liverpool for £43m-rated striker this summer

According to a report in Bild, Tottenham Hotspur could battle Liverpool for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.

The versatile Marmoush, who is a centre-forward by trade but can play in either flank, has won many admirers since joining Frankfurt on a free transfer last season, having scored 16 goals and provided six assists across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

It was Bild who first reported back in February that Spurs and Newcastle United had their eyes on the Egypt international ahead of the summer.

Liverpool enter race with Spurs for Omar Marmoush

The same publication has now offered an update on Mormoush’s future, stating that the striker’s exploits are now turning more heads in the Premier League.

The report says that Spurs and Liverpool are the two clubs who have shown interest in taking the player to England this summer.

However, it is revealed that Frankfurt do not want to lose their star man and are ‘only willing to talk’ about his sale if there’s an offer of around €50m (£42.8m) on the table.

Marmoush is arguably a much better fit for Postecoglou’s system than the likes of Santiago Gimenez and Ivan Toney but the Egyptian has only had one outstanding season in his career so far. Only time will tell if this is a purple patch or whether he is on his way to becoming a world-class striker.
