Report: Spurs could battle Man United for Barcelona player’s signature

Fichajes have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United could be set to battle it out for the services of Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen.

If reports over the last few days are to be believed, Tottenham have made plenty of progress in their efforts to sign Radu Dragusin, with Ange Postecoglou’s men expected to complete the Romanian’s signing ‘very soon’ (Fabrizio Romano).

However, according to Fichajes’ latest update, Spurs are now contemplating a move for another centre-back in the form of Christensen.

While the Dane has been a key player for Barca since swapping Stamford Bridge for Nou Camp 18 months ago, the outlet suggests that he could potentially head back to the Premier League this month.

Spurs and Man Utd set for battle over Christensen

According to the report, Christensen’s experience in the English top flight makes him an ‘object of desire’ for both the Lilywhites and the Red Devils.

It is alleged that both clubs are attentive to Barca’s financial situation and aware that the Catalan club might have to offload some of their assets.

They are thus said to be ‘ready to seize the opportunity’ to move for the 27-year-old, who Tottenham and United view as a ‘valuable option’ to strengthen their defence.

Spurs Web Opinion

Now that the Dragusin deal looks likely to go through, there is next to no chance that Tottenham would sign another right-footed centre-back in this month’s transfer window.

Having said that, Christensen would be a good fit for Ange’s system and Spurs may perhaps be plotting a move for the former Chelsea man next summer.
