Corriere dello Sport have claimed that AS Roma are set to enter the race for Everton centre-back Ben Godfrey, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.
It is now clear that Spurs are prioritising a move for Radu Dragusin, with various reports over the last couple of days suggesting that the Lilywhites are expected to wrap up a deal for the Romanian very soon (Fabrizio Romano).
Another centre-back who is allegedly on Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist is Godfrey, with some outlets reporting over the last month that the North London club are eyeing a move for the Everton man (Football.London).
90 min even asserted two weeks ago that Spurs are ready to make advances for the 25-year-old after they learned that the Toffees are willing to cash in on the player.
Roma enter the race for Everton’s Ben Godfrey
The speculation linking Godfrey with a move to Spurs has died down a bit over the last two weeks but if Postecoglou’s men are to make a move for the England international, they might have some competition to contend with.
This is because Corriere have said that Jose Mouriho’s men are now plotting a move for the Everton star.
The outlet explains that the Giallorossi do not have much money to spend in January and have thus identified Godfrey as a realistic target.
This is because the Everton star is allegedly seen as someone who has the attributes to succeed at the Stadio Olimpico while also being available at a discount.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite unlikely that Tottenham will sign a second centre-back in January after Dragusin, particularly given how well Ben Davies has performed over the last couple of months. So any move for Godfrey is likely to be put off until next summer.
