Report: Spurs could battle Napoli for the signature of a Gambian starlet

The Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could battle Napoli for the signature of Gambian starlet, Adama Bojang this summer.

Bojang has been extremely impressive since breaking into the senior side at Steve Biko FC and the striker turned a lot of heads with his prolific showing at the recently concluded South Africa Under-20 Nations Cup.

The 18-year-old netted a hat-trick in the quarter-finals against South Sudan as the Gambian Under-20s side finished runners-up to Senegal in the tournament.

The Daily Mail state that Bojang’s displays in the competition have alerted several European clubs, including Spurs, who are thought to see the teenager as one for the future.

It is explained that Tottenham would first need to loan out the centre-forward before he can qualify for a work permit.

The report adds that Napoli are also keen on snapping up Bojang while Royal Antwerp have their eye on the youngster, with these clubs expected to have an advantage over Spurs in securing a work permit for the player.

The Mail reveal that Nottingham Forest also hold an interest in the Gambian starlet but have currently put their interest on hold as they are prioritising trimming their squad in the summer.

Tottenham’s plan would be to loan out Bojang if they win the race for the signature.

So, the work permit issue should not be too much of a hindrance.

However, the 18-year-old very much appears to be a Paratici target and it is far from clear if the Italian would be at Spurs when the transfer window opens.
