Report: Spurs could be boosted by return of two players for Aston Villa trip

The Evening Standard have revealed that Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon could be back in contention for Tottenham’s trip to Villa Park on Saturday evening.

Sessegnon has been out of action with a hamstring injury since the start of March while Reguilon missed Tottenham’s clash against Newcastle United with a knock.

In the absence of both players, Antonio Conte shifted Matt Doherty to left wing-back on Sunday and the Republic of Ireland international put in an accomplished display, getting a goal and an assist.

Conte admitted last week that Sessegnon is ‘very close’ to returning to full fitness (Football.London).

According to The Evening Standard, Reguilon has now recovered from his knock and trained with the first-team ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Aston Villa.

It is revealed that Sessegnon could also be in contention for the clash against Steven Gerrard’s men.

However, Oliver Skipp remains sidelined for the trip to the Midlands as he continues recovering from his pelvic issue.

Spurs Web Opinion

As well as Doherty played at left wing-back on Sunday, the team will be a lot more balanced when Sessegnon or Reguilon return to the starting lineup. I expect the Spaniard to start the game against the Villans as Conte will probably not want to rush Sessegnon back after a hamstring injury.
