Video: Spurs boosted by the return of midfielder to training following surgery

Tottenham Hotspur have been boosted by the return of Oliver Skipp to pre-season training.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Norwich City and suffered a fracture of his metatarsal bone in his right foot in the final minutes of 4-1 win over Reading which clinched the Sky Bet Championship title.

Spurs confirmed in early May that Skipp had undergone surgery to rectify the problem and was due to return ‘during the pre-season period’.

The England Under-21 international has been been an ever-present in Daniel Farke’s promotion-winning side, making 47 appearances in all competitions until he suffered the injury in the penultimate match of the campaign (transfermarkt).

Having Skipp back for the vast majority of pre-season is a big boost for the club with the midfielder looking to push on after his spell at Norwich and stake a claim for a place as a regular under Nuno.

Harry Winks has had plenty of opportunities to evolve his game but appears to have gone backwards in the past 18 months, it’s time for Skipp to have his chance to shine.
