According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a potential boost in their rumoured pursuit of Gabriel Menino with Palmeras now ready to sell him for a cut-price fee.
Menino’s stock has risen quickly since the youngster broke into the Palmeras first-team in January of last year.
The versatile midfielder, who is also capable of playing as a full-back, played a key role in the club’s successful Copa Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil campaign.
The 20-year-old has been dubbed as the ‘Brazilian Yaya Toure’ for his energy and ability to drive forward with the ball.
Sky Sports (via TEAMtalk) reported last week that Spurs are eying a move for the midfielder, with the North Londoners believing that the Brazilain’s ability to also play as right-back would make him a useful addition to the squad.
Mundo Deportivo claim that despite Menino having a €60m (£51m) release clause in his contract, Palmeras are willing to sell him for around €20m (£17m) due to the financial impact of the pandemic.
However, the report reveals that Spurs could face plenty of competition for the youngster, with Chelsea, Juventus and Atletico Madrid also holding an interest in him.
