Report: Spurs could face competition from Barcelona in the summer for Conte target

Mundo Deportivo have revealed that Barcelona are interested in snapping up AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.

Kessie has evolved into one of the best-to-box midfielders in Italian football over the last few years but the midfielder is now into the final six months of his contract at the San Siro (Transfermarkt).

Gazzetta Dello Sport reported last month (as relayed by Football Italia) that the Rossoneri were not ready to meet the contract demands of the 25-year-old.

The Daily Express claimed a couple of weeks ago that Spurs were the front-runners to snap up the midfielder on a free transfer in the summer.

According to Corriere della Sera, Tottenham have even floated the possibility of swapping Kessie with Tanguy Ndombele but the Serie A club were not willing to sanction such a deal.

Mundo Depertivo have now revealed that Spurs could face competition from Barcelona for the Milan star in the summer.

The report states the Catalan giants are keen to strengthen their midfielder department and could move for Kessie if he is available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Kessie does become available on a free transfer in the summer, there will likely be a major scramble for him, particularly given that many big clubs outside the Premier League are cash-strapped at the moment.

So, unless Paratici uses his connections to steal a march on others, a summer deal for the Ivorian will prove pretty difficult.
