Report: Spurs could face competition from Bayern Munich if they want PL star

Media Foot have claimed that Bayern Munich have now entered the race for rumoured Tottenham target Illan Meslier.

Over recent weeks, several goalkeepers have been mooted as potential replacements for Hugo Lloris, with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Yann Sommer (GiveMeSport), Everton’s Jordan Pickford (TMW) and Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez (GiveMeSport) among the names alleged to be on Spurs’ radar.

Meslier has also previously been linked with a move to Tottenham, with journalist Phil Hay revealing on The Athletic’s Phil Hay Show last month that Spurs are contemplating a move for the Leeds number one.

If Media Foot’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham could face quite a bit of competition for the Frenchman’s signature.

The report reveals that Bayern have now identified Meslier as a potential successor to Manuel Neuer. It is asserted that the Bundesliga giants have reached out to the 22-year-old’s agent regarding a move to the Allianz Arena.

However, Media Foot add that Meslier is also wanted by clubs in the Premier League, namely Manchester United and Chelsea. The French publication states that Bayern are not favourites to sign the Leeds star as he prefers to remain in the Premier League.

There could be a huge goalkeeper merry-go-round next summer, with Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea all looking to replace their respective number ones. The likes of Meslier, Jordan Pickford and Robert Sanchez could all be in demand over the coming months.
