Report: Spurs could face competition from Italy for Dutch international

Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from Italy if they look to persue interest in Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake.

The Dutch international has previously been linked with a move to North London after impressing on the south coast (Sky Sports).

Mauricio Pochettino could be forced to look for potential defensive reinforcements with Toby Alderweireld likely to leave the club if a bid of £25million or above is received prior to the last two weeks of this summer’s transfer window.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport (as reported by Inside Futbol), Napoli are also keeping tabs on the central defender ahead of the transfer window opening at the end of the current campaign. Ake, who left Chelsea for £20million in 2017, has also been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge (talkSPORT)

Ake also has the added appeal of being classed as a ‘home grown’ player having left Feyenoord for Chelsea at the age of 16 and came through the youth ranks with Tottenham’s Premier League rivals.

Tottenham are short of homegrown players and is something which the club will look to rectify ahead of next season.
