Report: Spurs could face competition from Liverpool and Man Utd for midfielder

According to a report by German news outlet Bild, Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from Manchester United and Liverpool for Marcel Sabitzer’s signature this summer.

Sabitzer was heavily linked with a move to Spurs during the January transfer window but the midfielder ended up remaining at Leipzig.

Reports have indicated that the North Londoners could swoop for the Austrian at the end of the season.

It has been suggested that Leipzig are open to selling the 27-year-old, who would have just a year left on his contract with the Bundesliga club at the end of the season.

Bild claim that Sabitzer has expressed his intention to leave Leipzig at the end of the season, with the Premier League said to be his prefered destination.

However, the report suggests that Tottenham’s pursuit of the former Rapid Wien star will be anything but straight-forward, with Liverpool and Man Utd also said to be keen on landing the midfielder.

Sabitzer will likely be available for a comparatively low fee due to his contract situation. So there is bound to be plenty of interest in the Austrian. It would be difficult to convince the 27-year-old to come to Spurs if we fail to qualify for the Champions League.
