Report: Spurs could face competition from Newcastle for striker

Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from Newcastle United if they set their sights on AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.

The Sun claim that the Magpies are hopeful that the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic could help the Italian giants to decide to part company with the 24-year-old.

Piatek rose to prominence with his sensational form for Genoa in the first half of last season which earned him a move to Milan last January.

After enjoying a decent start to his Milan career with nine goals in eighteen games in the second half of last season, the striker has failed to replicate the same form this campaign, having notched up just four goals so far (transfermarkt).

Calciomercato have previously claimed that Spurs are considering a move for the Polish international following Harry Kane’s hamstring injury.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even before we lost Kane to an injury, I still believed we needed to sign another centre forward in January as we have lacked a plan B since Llorente left the club in the summer. I wouldn’t be too bothered if Newcastle sign Piatek as I would prefer Spurs to sign someone more experienced like Vedat Muriqi or even Eden Dzeko.
