Report: Spurs could face competition from PL club for 43-year-old manager

The Daily Mail have revealed that Crystal Palace have also set their sights on rumoured Tottenham managerial target, Steve Cooper.

Multiple reports over the last two weeks have suggested that the search for Antonio Conte’s replacement is now well underway, with Fabio Paratici having been asked to compile a list of managers who could succeed the Italian (Daily Mail).

It emerged earlier this month that Nottingham Forest boss, Cooper is one of the names on the North London club’s radar to succeed the 53-year-old (GiveMeSport).

The Athletic claimed on March 7 that the work that the Welsh manager has won several admirers among the Tottenham hierarchy with the work he has done since taking over at the City Ground in 2021.

If The Mail’s latest update is to be believed, Palace are also expected to make a move for the Forest boss at the end of the season.

The report explains that even though the Eagles put Roy Hodgson in charge on an interim basis this Tuesday after sacking Patrick Vieira, the club only view the 75-year-old as a stop-gap and are expected to appoint a new head coach in the summer.

Cooper is alleged to be one of the names near the top of Palace’s wishlist, with the club said to be hopeful that he would be open to a switch to Selhurst Park in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Cooper is guaranteed to be sought after in the summer as the likes of Palace, West Ham, and even potentially Leicester City could be looking for a new manager. However, I do not think the 43-year-old is likely to be considered by Spurs as he simply has not had success at the top level for a sustained period so far.
