Report: Spurs could face competition from West Ham for Man United player

Football Transfers have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire this summer.

Maguire has fallen down the pecking order at Man Utd since Erik Ten Hag arrived at the club last summer, with the centre-back having started less than a fifth of the club’s Premier League matches this season (Transfermarkt).

Football Transfers have asserted that the Red Devils are keen to offload the former Leicester City man this summer and would be ready to accept a fee of around £40m for him.

The report states that Maguire is of interest to Spurs but any move for the England international would depend on which manager the North London club bring in this summer, with other centre-backs such as Man City’s Aymeric Laporte also alleged to be on the Lilywhites’ radar.

Should Tottenham make a move for the 30-year-old, it is said that they could face competition from London rivals West Ham, who have also identified the Man Utd star as an option to help bolster their backline.

Many Spurs fans will turn their noses up at this suggestion but I personally believe that Magurie can thrive in the right system if his confidence is high.

The fact that he is homegrown is also a huge tick in his favour and I would not be surprised if Tottenham were to explore a move for the 30-year-old this summer.
