Report: Spurs could launch £44m offer for centre-back next summer

Inter Live have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could be set to launch a big offer for Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni next summer.

During the summer transfer window of 2022, multiple publications suggested that Bastoni was Tottenham’s top target for the left centre-back role, with Antonio Conte alleged to be keen on reuniting with the defender at Spurs (Football.London).

However, the 23-year-old stayed put at the San Siro, with the Lilywhites snapping up Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

Inter Live have now suggested that Tottenham could reignite their pursuit of Bastoni once again at the end of the 2022-23 season.

The report states that Inter are keen to tie the Italy international down to a new contract, with his current deal running out in 2024.

The Nerazzurri hierarchy are said to have good relations with the centre-back’s representatives, and it is explained that talks could soon get underway.

However, Simone Inzaghi’s men are thought to be wary of interest from Premier League sides, with Tottenham alleged to be particularly keen on signing the defender.

The report adds that Spurs could be prepared to launch a €50m (£43.7m) offer for the player at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Bastoni was the player Conte wanted this summer, and that Lenglet has only been signed as a stopgap. So, I fully expect Spurs to reignite their interest in the centre-back next summer.

However, were the 23-year-old to sign a new deal, Inter’s asking price could increase substantially, and potentially put us out of the running.
