Report: Spurs could launch a bid for another Juventus star this summer

Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Giovanni Albanese has claimed that Tottenham could launch an offer for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

Spurs could be in the market for a number eight this summer, with Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele both expected to leave the North London club (The Times).

McKennie was reported to be on Antonio Conte’s wishlist ahead of the January transfer window, with the Italian allegedly viewing the Juve star as the new Arturo Vidal (Gazzetta).

Calciomercato reported earlier this month that the Spurs boss had instructed the North London club’s hierarchy to snap up the USA international this summer.

Tottenham are expected to kick off their summer transfer business with the signings of Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic on free transfers (Football Insider).

Albanese has now taken to social media to cover Tottenham’s pursuit of Perisic, and in the process, also revealed that the club’s managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, could launch an offer for McKennie.

McKennie very much seems like a Conte kind of player and the American would give the Spurs boss the flexibility of switching to a 3-5-2 if needed next season.

Additionally, given Paratici’s strong relationship with the Juventus hierarchy, I would not be surprised if Tottenham make a move for the 23-year-old this summer.
